The Day one adventure started early with our caravan of vehicles leaving at 8:20 am on our way to camp. After countless “are we there yets”, we arrive in Camden at noon to feed the hungry bunch. The teens scattered to their favorite locations such as McDees, Sonic, Taco Bell, and Subway. Layton drove his imaginary car with real passengers to order his food through a speaker at Sonic.
Corporate worship times included the Mike’s Chair Band, comedy skits, and a very direct speaker with a unique style. The camp theme is “flip” which describes how the Christian life is different from the way of the world. Small group time narrows the focus of the messages into personal discussions on application to the student’s lives. Christ will work through each of these events this week to challenge the campers to evaluate their faith and commitment to Him.
The wrap up session in the evening with the Antioch group was lead by Andrew Allee. He spoke on how we continue the motivation to serve God beyond camp when the emotional high wears off. Andrew did a great job communicating from his heart to challenge his peers to have a lasting faith.
Day one concluded with a little less energy that the group started the day with. Rest was welcomed by all. Your prayers for changed lives and a great camp experience continues to be a foundation for success.
