Breakfast began early, especially if you stayed up late talking or duct taping your roommates. Some of us froze with the air conditioners going full blast.
What a beautiful day. The sun was shining and the breezes cool.
The students spent their quiet time with Steve while the counselors went to a training time for the days family group meeting.
Today, we went back and looked at where our Christian roots came from. Since most of our students have already accepted Christ, it is our concern that they take their walk with Christ a step further. We challenged students to be cautious as to what the world says that is contrary to the doctrine they have been brought up with. Do they know what they believe and why they believe it?
The recreation time was spent in water games, which turned out to be more mud games. Don’t be surprised if the laundry doesn’t come home very muddy and smelly. Sorry moms!
After lunch, we took a nice ride to the Lake of the Ozarks where we spent the afternoon at Gary and April’s lake house. We began by having our Family Group study time, followed by swimming, and tubing behind a really awesome boat. Praise God, no one was hurt and the tubing was a challenge for everyone who dare to take the ride. It is amazing how funny it is to watch teenagers and adults be carried across the water at high speeds, spun on a dime, and either fight to stay on or fly off in all directions. And then get back on and want to do it again and again…..What silly creatures we are. We finished with a hot dog cook out and headed back for the evening praise time.
Our biggest thanks to the Gary and April for sharing all of this with us!
The evening worship provided what I call “lively music”. The band seems to have connected with the students. The inclusion of some old hymns to an updated version would get the approval of the “older” fan club. “How Great Thou Art” with some drums is actually pretty neat.
Our speaker spoke on I John chapter 1.
Here are his 3 main points.
I. Jesus was real and he walked on the Earth
II. Jesus Christ is perfect.
III. God’s mission is to forgive us.
Tonight’s challenge is to know who they really are in
Christ.
Just wondering? Do you know who you are in Christ?
